Exclusive Aerial Images Reveal Storm Ingrid's Wrath: Teignmouth Pier Damaged

Striking new aerial photographs have laid bare the destructive power of Storm Ingrid, which ravaged the Devon and Cornwall coast this weekend, inflicting significant damage on Teignmouth's historic pier.

Our exclusive images show a section of the famed Teignmouth Grand Pier appearing to have been washed away entirely by what locals described as "just wild" waves during the intense overnight battering from Friday into Saturday. The pier, a central feature of the town's seafront, now bears a stark gap in its structure.

In a further blow to infrastructure, the storms caused a partial collapse of the sea wall that protects the main railway line at neighbouring Dawlish.

The storm struck under a Met Office yellow warning for rain, with the Environment Agency issuing flood alerts across the south coast. These exclusive photographs offer a sobering bird’s-eye view of the coastline's vulnerability and the formidable force of the weekend's severe weather.
