Dartmoor National Park Authority welcomes confirmation from the Secretary of State at the Oxford Farming Conference that the Farming in Protected Landscapes (FiPL) programme will be extended for a further three years, running from 1 April 2026 to 31 March 2029. The programme will receive £30 million of national funding in 2026/27, with allocations for subsequent years to follow.
This extension will provide assurance for Dartmoor’s farming community and supports the long-term partnerships that underpin the health, resilience and cultural heritage of the moor.
FiPL has already played a transformative role across Dartmoor, enabling farmers and land managers to deliver projects that enhance nature, support climate resilience, strengthen farm businesses, and celebrate the unique character of this iconic landscape.
Since the programme launched in 2021, Dartmoor has received £3.3million, supporting over 200 projects.
Dartmoor National Park Authority Chief Executive Kevin Bishop, said: “We are delighted that the Government have announced a three-year extension to the Farming in Protected Landscapes programme.
“FiPL is an innovative scheme - it provides funding to farmers and land managers to improve access, enhance nature, tackle climate change and support the development of farm businesses.
“It is unique in its integrated approach and the involvement of stakeholders in decisions and delivery.
"This extension will provide important funding to help sustain and enhance Dartmoor over the next three years.”
Dartmoor National Park Authority extends its thanks to all the farmers, land managers, advisers and partners who have contributed to the success of FiPL so far.
